rough 1-2 shifts since recent rebuild??
Whats up A-zine?? I've got a 99 TL, 4 speed tranny. I'll start with the story of my tranny failure, and prior rebuilds to give you all a better idea of whats going on. So, with 187k on her, running strong, I pull out of my bank and my car pops out of gear randomly, and then on the way home proceeds to slowly lose gear by gear until I'm left with only 2nd, and it kept popping out. Since the guy I bought the car from was an at home mechanic, and had given me a one year labor warranty for 500 when i bought the car, I took it to him to have it checked out, and he sends it to a friends tranny shop(sketchy ass shop) saying it was his car, and told us it would be around 1000 to rebuild. so we agree and i get my car back a few weeks later running fine , and it doesn't last a month.
We took it back ,and after 2 months of "it'll be done tomorrows" i finally get it back. its been running as good as ever engine wise, but I've noticed a jerk every time it shifts from 1-2, If the rpms are high enough it doesn't seem to do it as bad though. it almost feels like the mounts are bad, but i cant seem to figure out what exactly is causing it. I've also heard about a certain torque converter thats supposed to be used, and I'm not sure what he used(I can find out), the only other thing I could think of would be the pressure switches, but ANY advice/Ideas are appreciated, I just want to figure it out before it shits on me once again. Thanks in advance!

Check your motor/trans mounts for damage. I would start by replacing the pressure switches, and switching over to redline/amsoil transmission fluid (I personally run redline in my 2G and 3G TL).
My 99 has 196k miles and I run about 60% redline type F fluid and 40% redline D4 fluid. it still has funny shifts, but it is a lot better than it was. You are under warranty, so it cant hurt to try these simple fixes first.
Note: My car has been running like this for the last 5 years now and the problems haven't gotten any worse since the switch in fluids.

that's pretty much what I was thinking, It's just such a hassle dealing with the asshole that owns the shop, they say it'll take two days, and it takes a month. I'll try out the fluid, and see about the switches. can anyone give me some info on what to look for on the mounts?

well, I got under it yesterday, and they had left the drain plug loose and it was almost dry, so i topped it off for now, and I'm going to do a 3x3 as soon as possible

Low fluid.....rough shifts !
Hey Almost4043, that's really shoddy workmanship. No pride what-so ever !
Lucky that you caught that, hope it's not too late ! ~Bummer~
