Rotor sanding at 51 Kilometers??

My Dealer suggested that I have my rotors sanded (resurfaced?) at my upcoming regular maintanance this month. I have 51 km on my TL... How do I know if it really needs to be done or if they just want to make some money off me...

Thanks,
Riaz

rak,

Please tell me you made a mistake. You ONLY have 51Kms on your 99 TL....

There is no way you will need a roter resurfaced with ONLY 51 kms unless you did not drive the car (was in storage) and they are rusted

Now if you have 51,000 kms then yes, and it should not be that expensive to get them resurfaced.

If you feel vibration in your steering wheel when you press the brake pedal on higher speeds that usually means that rotors are uneven. If it is really bad, vibration is even more pronounced and you can feel it regardless of speed when you press the brake pedal. I think that rotors should last way more then just 51K Km or something less then 32K miles. Keep in mind the fact that by machining the rotors means they are going to become thinner and the thinner they are, the less heat they can tolerate which leads ultimately to a way shorter life and replacement. Even if they need to be resurfaced, your car looks to be still under warranty so I should really talk to them for rotors to be replaced, NOT resurfaced under warranty. Now, just please let me know who the dealer is, I am very curious.
