RonJon 2nd Gen Acura TL Splitter Kit Progress Thread! **Now Accepting Pre-orders**

With demand present for an affordable body enhancement for the 2G Acura TL, we decided to go ahead with the 2nd Generation Acura TL splitter kit from RonJon Sport Design.

Our goal is to provide the best quality possible for the fairest price and the most attractive design with board member's direct feedback, so you know it won't be a compromise. With dozens of designs and 4 production kits built to date, our experience will be on display as we engineer the best possible installation techniques in the industry. They will be problem free and secure.

Here's more information…

5-piece kit is made up of:
  • Front lip add-on (primed ABS plastic)
  • Pair of side skirt add-ons (primed ABS plastic)
  • 3 piece rear lip add-ons(primed ABS plastic)

  • Exterior RonJon vehicle emblem and catalog

The design has fairly simple yet noticeable, the kit will bolt right up, conforming to the profile of the car from underneath. Here are the illustrations our in-house design studio (made up of Rondy Marji and John Vicente of http://jmvdesign.ca/) has come up with:

Yes, right before the kit is finished and ready to ship. I'm hustling to finish the 4th Gen Kit so we can start on this kit. Progress pics every step of the way, it will just get better from here on out.

Renders look nice. Can't wait to see this installed! Great job in deciding to create a quality kit for the 2Gs!

How low will the kit hang? Not sure if you know what I mean by this, but for example, the WW kit hangs real low making the car look a lot "lower" than it is..

..that rendering want's me to slap on some Legends on my SSM!

1.5-2.0", we'l see exactly when we build the kit on the car and evaluate what we can get away with. We'll be making the kit have a slight notch in the middle to help with scraping...

RonJon, nice to see a brand new kit for 2nd gen TL.
I think the lip kit is too thin and small for the TL. I like the design of 3rd and 4th gen TL kit and especially CL kit. If 2nd gen TL kit has a similar one to them then it will be nice!

Either Matte Black or Grey Primer like these parts in the pic below:

We will make sure it is noticeable, but it was designed to be a lower cost item.

Ok I'm a little confused. I have a 00 and the 02-03 frnt is different than 99-01. I heard the uderbody is slightly diff. Example: a 99-01 oem lip front won't fit a 02-03 and vice versa. So id the spiltter kit goin to fit a 00 front. Can I get a guarentee because I don't want to order it and end up not fitting. I know the rear and sides will fit but I'm just concerned about the front

The lower curve of the bumper is the same, its the contour for the lower grill opening and the way the oem comes up to it thats different. If this mounts to the underside like shown it shouldnt be a problem. We will have to wait and see for it to be made and fit though to be sure.

Right, we will confirm of course with two cars in the booth when fit check comes around, we'll also be able to make adjustments if needed to accommodate both vehicles, mounting underneath has it's benefits.

We'll see, one thing at a time. On a side note, the 4th Gen TL is already almost up to 15 preorders, the 2nd gen TL is only 2 orders in, we need a few to make sure this will go. The price point of $590 is very affordable, and we will continue to work on the prototype, but if things don't pick up, I will have no choice but to put the project on hold.

For those saying you will hold off until you see the real thing, take a look at out 3G TL kit, and our current 4G TL kit progress, if we are anything, we are accurate and keep true to the design, it will only get better from here, not worse. By the time the kit is made, the pre-order special pricing will no longer be in effect.

I will definately order. I'm jus concerned if the frnt will fit or not. My 2000 has its base trim not the optional upgrade type s like lip.

They posted this issue up earlier. Since it will be a undermount it shouldnt be a problem but Ron said they would make adjustments if need be. And I am sure that this is going to be done before you get your kit.

question.

is there any way we can buy just a single piece of the kit? like just the side skirts, or just the front lip? maybe not now during the preorder, but maybe in the near future?

Been so busy as of late, we are trying to finish the 4G TL kit then go full steam ahead with this kit. I would still like more preorders, since it is doing ok, but not great. But we need to clean out plate before we get really going with this kit. Parts can be purchased individually, pricing will be established a little later.

Thanks to those who support us and our willingness to start new projects like this.

While I don't know what the homedepot kit is, I'd assume it's a simple chunk of rubber bolted to the bottom of the car. Look a little closer and you'll see the subtle deals that makes this a great product at a great price. A "G" is also about the cost of the oem kit painted new, so it's not actually a bad price.

Still eagerly waiting for updates but will be patient for a high quality product.

You do have the right to express your opinion, but in this case you were being a dick for doing so. This is a thread for pre-ordering the kit, not complaining about it.
