The right exhaust w/o the noise?

Hey, anyone out there can give me advise on what exhaust to install om '99 TL? I want the performance but not that tin can sound that's heard when semi-reved or driving through local streets. On the highway I'm not to concerned about the noise (although if avoided I'll take it). I saw one TL, the ride looked sweet it had some nice chromi-chromes in 19's but when he turned it on and took off...holy sh*t it sounded like my old '79 corolla which had a 13b rotory engine at one point. The TL looked semi luxo but sounded like a lawnmower engine. I damn near f*&%ing earled when I heard it. yack: Why would you do that to a TL? Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankx!

Comptech sounds pretty stock and if you want to make it even quieter they sell silencers.... You will only gain about 1 - 4 hp at the max.... I dont think exhaust is worth the money if your going for hp gain. $1200 for 1 - 4 hp doesnt do it for me.. Get headers instead...

the gains for headers is about 25 hp. The TL already has a pretty free flowing exhaust so getting exhaust isn't really worth it. If your looking for the look, get tips. I have tips and everyone always asks if they are comtech, you can't even tell, especially if you have the back skirt. Covers it up but it still sticks out ever so slightly.
Look for my pics in the Gallery.
Let us know what you decide to do.

30 to 40 hp....

Available headers:
Comptech 1200
OBX 350
Stone 400

They all give you the same hp gains... Do your research because Comptech is the best out there but expensive, OBX has resonance at low rpms, and Stone had a fitment issue but that has been taken care of and I'm happy with them....
