Hi i have a 03 TL-S with aem cai. I'm trying to put my car back to stock, and i was wondering if my car would make that ssssshhhhhee sound without the resonator. (im actually giving it to my dad and he literally HATES that sound, and i don't wanna remove the bumper. and please help me) Thank you for reading this and helping me. ^^

 

Nah, no shhhhhh sound even without the resonator unless you have a K&N filter... then you might have a very slight hisss sound when you are only gasing a little bit. But otherwise, you are good to go if you can stick the stock airbox back in to replace the CAI.

 

I have the stock airbox w/o the resonator but with the K&N filter, and there is a swishhh sound when I turn the car off and when you gun it. It is the same sounds as with a CAI just not as loud.

Why does your dad hate it!!!??? Even my mom thinks it is kinda cool.

 

exactly what i have. just installed it yesterday and i've been trying to get used to the difference in sound. love the slightly deeper tone @ higher rpms though!

Thank you guys, and one more question would it make even a slight sshhhee sound if i put k&n filter with the resonator?? or would it still make that sound because of the filter?? thank you again, it helped me alot~

 

don't know for sure about that because never had that kind of setup.
the way i had my car was first the resonator went byebye, then after another 5k miles, replaced the oem air filter with K&N. but i would guess that with the resonator and K&N the small hiss sound would be even less noticable if not audible at all.
