"Resistor" mods

I keep seeing these things on eBay - some are called "chips" but mostly called mods. Regardless, it looks/sounds like they are simply resistors in line/across some leads into the ECM.

Here goes Pandora's box - opinions?

I would never question you, but do you know for a fact or are you just assuming. Sorry man.

The reason I asked, is because do you remeber doug with the RES, the MMII he mention some things that makes me think the mod is just like the one they sell on ebay. I already verify that it wasn't him, but you never know it could be the same mod.
