resetting the ecu

If I disconnected the battery would it reset the ecu and if so how long do I need to have it disconnected for it to work?

Disconnecting the battery should reset the ecu and you will also lose your presets on the radio. Don't forget that you'll also need the radio code once you reconnect the battery. Not sure about the length of time but I would say about 5 minutes should do.

The only way to be certain you clear the ECU is to disconnect both battery cables and touch them together.

I hope you don't have large capacitors installed anywhere in your car. SPARK!

Go to the dealer ask the service guy to plug the computer to the ECU port on the dash under the coin holder and he will reset the ECU in 1 minute.
