Isn't there a step by step process where you have to remove the ECU fuse?

Anyways, if you do reset your ECU by removing the battery then you're going to need to have your radio and if applicable your NAVI security codes handy because both will be reset as well.
And figueroa1357, your ECU is the computer chip inside your car that controls timing, VTEC engagement and other various settings on your car. After modding your car, resetting the ECU can force it to immediately re-adjust certain paramaters in your car getting it to take advantage of your mods.

you want to know exactly how long it takes?
open the drivers door just before you disconnect the battery. after you disconnect the negative terminal, watch the dome light fade, and fade, and fade. when its out, THATS how long it takes. Ive done it so many times, ive lost count. And the boys at my dealer confirmed it for me. Overnight is WAYYYY over kill, and even 5 minutes is overkill. Even the helms manual says 3 minutes, "just to be safe"...
There is no backup battery, there is no NVRAM anywhere, thats it.
You could remove the fuse if you wanted to, but this is easier.
And the only reason you should ever reset the ECU is to reset the CEL or similar. The ECU will compensate for anything you do to the car, maby not immiedatly, but it will.
Also be aware that after resetting the ECU your idle will have to readjust itself, so dont freak out when the car idles funny for a few minutes.
