Some acura dealers install these replicas as well. But the catch is they are charging consumers retail oem prices on those. Thats a no no. But they are lighter as well.

The disadvantage is that the replica spoiler is heavier then the OEM, It does not come with the trunk spring, and it doesn't come painted (some sell it painted).

I did a lot of research when I wanted to install an after market spoiler & read a thread where someone mentioned that spoilers from spoiler depot are not as bright as the oem. I just read that so I have no experienced w/ them.

I recently bought an after market spoiler on ebay too for $155 painted + shipping. The reason I bought from that person was b/c of the PPG paint that he uses. When I received it, I was very surprised that it was an exact match to the White Diamond Pearl on the car.

I installed it on Christmas day & found that the install for this spoiler was so easy. This spoiler is mounted by using the 4 ID marks on the trunk lid. I didn't even have to drill holes somewhere else.

I don't know how much the OEM spoiler weighs but this one is about 5 lbs. Let me go outside & take a few pics & I'll post them here soon.

guys the aftermarket one is fine it is heavier therefore when u hit the trunk release the truck wont pop up it will just unlock and spoiler depot is fine if u have issues w the led u can get a clear or buy one that is brighter

Dont worry about the lease....Acura will not check if the spoiler is real. One catch to buying one off ebay (spoilerdepot) is that you dont receive the trunk torsion bars. Thats why the trunk wont pop open after install. Of course you can always buy these soemwhere else (dealer?). I never bothered to get the torsion bars...btw my car is leased too and i picked up a spoilerdepot spoiler.

Do the spoilers from www.spoilerdepot require drilling?

How much are the torsion bars and where are they located??? I have no idea what they look like.. I'm assuming its the thingy that gives the trunk enough force to pop open. And if I buy one online that is painted already, how much you think a local body shop should charge to put it in??

If you adjust the placement of the torsion bars in the trunk, will that created enough tension to raise the trunk lid with a spoiler on it?

Does Acura change the torsion bars or just adjust them?

It's just a difference, not a disadvantage.

Adjusting torsion bar doesn't make it stronger. You need to replace heavy duty torsion bar which is thicker than regular torsion bar.

OK finally was able to take pics,

but these were taken last night so the quality isn't that good.

This was the eBay spoiler that I just installed about a week ago. I had doubts about buying a non OEM spoiler b/c I wanted one that could be used w/ the premarked locators on the trunk lid. I had no prob. w/ installing this spoiler.
