replacement brake pads? any brand better than another
i am at the point of changing my front brake pads. the rear look good, of course i realize the front brake system is the primary and wears out first. what i was curious about is what brand some of the board members used or recommend. i can get a set of performance pads from aem at nopionline.com for 58 bucks. is aem a good choice? or do some of you use acura parts only or some that tim sells here on this board?

i like raybestos from Pep boys. i have them on my '96 and theyve lasted for over 3 years (no kidding!) only now have they begun to squeak a little. also, Axis Metal Masters are really good.

Yeah i have the Axis on my car and have no brake dust. The standard acura pads made so much dust, that i would have to clean my wheels between weekly washes. But also if you change the pads and need the rotors to be resurfaced the dealer will not, cover the rotors because you dont have acura brake pads on em.

dude there are so many mods on my car that the dealer wont cover a screw. so im not worried about the rotors being under warranty. also if the rotors cant be resurfaced i would just buy some brembo rotors and replace them myself. thanks for the input on the brake dust of the pads.

i'v had axxis metal masters on mine for some 25-30k miles and they are great. much improved stopping power as there is much more "bite" when ou brake. Of course better tires than OEM helps there too. The Axxis metal masters should still be available through this site, as I got them from Tim way back when.

most people like the endless pad the best however i dont need competition pads that do regardless of what some say need to be heated up for top working performance. i purchased axxis metal master pads and thats the end of this thread for me. thanks for all the input from both this forum and the ********** forum.

MY SUGGESTION!!11
I recently replaced front and rear brake pads on my '98 TL. I did some research and found that Hawk HPS pads were perfect for the money. Yeah you could probably get a slightly better pad, but you will pay double the price. I had crap OEM pads before. Three weeks ago, I replaced them with Hawk HPS pads. My rotors still had plenty of life, so I didn't have to change them. Let me tell you...these new Hawk HPS pads are GREAT! MUCH better stopping power, feel and noticably less brake dust. I found that the cheapest place to buy them was on the net at www.RaceShopper.com. I delt with Edwin Robinson. He did a great job and shipped same day out of Atlanta. Anyways, thats my 2 cents. Good luck!

PS...If you decide to buy from www.RaceShopper.com , please tell them that Mike Contes referred you. They will give me a 10% dicount on my next purchase. Don't worry, I didn't plug this company for a meezly 10% discount. I truely had a great experience with their service and product.
