Replaced Air Filter with K+N, size/tilt is different?

Replaced Air Filter with K+N, size/tilt is different?
Pulled out the paper **** air filter and it is mounted on rubber at an angle for flow ...
K+N air filter is just "flat", no angle, dropped it in and cruizin
Any words of comfort or caution ???
