why don't you take your tire off and have a look? or do you need to start a thread on how to do that??
i'm sorry that was mean...but really.

To each their own - pros and cons of keeping them on or taking them off but...
I know guys that painted their calipers while they were on - just take your time masking things off, turn the wheels all the way to the left and then to the right to make it easier to get to the back... - and wear eye protection when you spray...
They used high temp headder/exhaust paint which has to be cured - they let it get dry to the touch then went out for some spirited driving in the canyons to get the brakes heated up and voila - cured painted calipers - better than new.

How are the brake pads/rotors and fluid condition? Ever replaced the fluid? Wait until the brakes need service if they don't already & just do it then. It's not hard to bleed them after being disconnected especially if you get a vacuum bleeder (cheap). Much easier to clean & paint them off the car.

flush/bleed the brake system before doing anything else
Duplicolor caliper paint kit $10 has all you need- see the DIY caliper painting thread for every method
I like the foam brush- no mess- no overspray- paint 3 times in an hour- let dry an hour and enjoy

Painting calipers
Just take the mounting bolts out but leave the fluid hose connected.
That way you can move them around and get at all sides.
Easy way to clean them before painting is to use a wire brush wheel on an electric drill. You can also unbolt the brackets and clean/paint them also.

any parts store has it in a complete kit with tape- cleaner- paint-foam brush-
buy a pack of extra foam brushes--they dry out quickly and easier to toss and start with a new one on each caliper

or you could goto your local auto store and buy a can of caliper paint and just paint them on the car.
I did it myself in 4 hours and in that same time I put d/s rotors on and they worked fine

i found a very easy way to paint the calipers. wrap a plastic bag around the rotor, leaving the caliper exposed. (make sure you remove pads/and metal clips with the pads)..
than paint... Good luck!!
