I'd prefer to hold the one button on my 2 way compustar remote over pressing those buttons half a dozen times on the factory key fob. If you're going to install a remote starter (usually with an alarm) why not just use the included remotes...

most aftermarket r/s have an activation input, this input can be programed to the number of pulses it receives. my guess is he might be using the dome light trigger to activate the r/s with two pulses. itd be much easier and just as safe to use your unlock button and push that a couple times. buuuuut, the reception sucks, so when you buy an aftermarket r/s they usually have an extra key pad that will have better reception, but to each his own.

Compustar is the best!

anyways you can use the OEM panic or trunk pulse to activate the negative start trigger on the compustar(or any other high end starter should have neg. activation as well). You would also have to diode isolate everything, (or use a PAC timer module) from the OEM keyless so you dont have you car starting everytime you push panic or whatever button you use. it can be done but I would assume it would be tricky to get it just right...

or

Its just an oem shell with the 'guts' of an aftermarket remote in it. This way would be much easier.

remote starts are cool and i can see the usefulness of having one, but never heard good things about them in the long run. usually the starter or something dies prematurely.

Everyone of my cars have a remote start on them. I love it.The only problem I had was a brain went bad but acourse DEI alarm has a lifetime warranty so I took it back to Best Buy. They replace everything.
