Reman steering rack

Hello everyone.

I'm looking for opinions on remanufactured steering racks. From what I've read, Autozone should be avoided at all costs. Can anyone recommend a good remanufacturer? I'd like to avoid the cost of an OEM part, even it it's still available for my '99 TL (unlikely), but I don't want to be swapping it out again in a year.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Tried a junkyard one? Sometimes the cheapest option is the best... I believe the TL-p shares the same steering rack from the accord v6 they should be plenty available in junkyards.

Yes, I thought about a junkyard piece, but I've already had the rack out once and partially rebuilt it only to have it start to leak in a different location. I'd rather buy a complete unit that I know won't leak and be done with it!

Remanufactured options are also a gamble, specially since they are just used units with new seals and a paint job... If you want guarantees? OEM is the way to go... OEM = $$$

I bought a remanufactured steering rack last year only to discover mine was not defective. By the time I made that discovery, I could no longer return it. The rack is still in carton, unused. I would be happy to find it a new home.

If you go with donchicago48's rack, make sure the warranty will still work for you. If not, I can recommend Jorgen automotive without any reservation. Over the years I've probably put in more than a hundred of their racks. They are a small, high quality operation, that remanufactures steering racks, gears, and pumps. Just for a quick comparison, we had to replace our first honda/acura ps pump a few weeks ago. I consider car quest to be a cut above autozone, pep boys, etc., but the first pump they sent us only sorta worked. The second one was ok.

Accord steering rack is not the same as the TL-P, They have the same setup as the 02-03 Type S.
I've seen some original racks on ebay and some local salvage yards for more or less $100, in good visual condition like no oil leaks around the boots.

The part number at Park Acura is different from other OEM online suppliers. I think it might also be a reman, but they have not answered my inquiry that I submitted Monday.

Given your choices I would go with...

1. Tler trash
2. Ac delco
3. Oem... for extra $40 over ac deco this would be my #1 choice.

I don't understand... you trying to save money by buying cheap but instead you're doing it twice already. You want to try three times?

Time is just as important as money... time is money.

Anyone can help me identify the OEM part number? Is 06536-S3M-506RM the right one? It is #1 in the diagram:

Is it #1 in the pic?
