Refinishing stock wheels

Refinishing stock wheels
Does anyone know if we can get our stock TLS wheels refinished in gun-metal black? I think my WDP/ebony would look good with that and the black chrome emblems. I don't feel like spending major bucks on the wheels but would like to make it look unique. I'm in northern CA.

i think www.powdercoater.com is close by...you can get them to powdercoat the wheels any color you like. another shop is in north hollywood... www.truwheel.com .
another option you could do is paint the wheels yourself... www.duplicolor.com . make sure to add a layer of clear for protection.

StanMan: Thanks for the great information.
Do you have any direct experience with re-painted wheels? I wonder how they would tolerate brake dust, etc. I've seen powder coat used for industrial applications. It's good to know that it can be used for fine finishes, because from my experience it's very durable. I'll get some prices and information on powder coat and post them here, in case anyone else is interested.

Just an FYI, almost all OEM wheels are powdercoated. The gray painted part on the spokes are done by powdercoating. They actually paint the whole wheel that color and then use a lathe to strip off the paint to show the polished metal on the face. That's why they look like they've been turned on a lathe.
Even clearcoat can be appplie via powdercoating. I had my wheels done on my Integra. The were stripped down to the metal and then re-clearcoated using a powdercoating process. They cam out better than new.

sorry, no personal experience in this area...just passing along info from mag articles and stuff i have read on the net. i agree powdercoating is the right choice! too bad the stock wheels do not have a lip and set back wheel face...this way you could paint the face and have the lips polished.

I got a quote from Andrews Powder Coating for $123 per wheel, with clear-coated metallic finish. The say that they have 600 colors in stock. They are in SoCal so I'm going to see what's available a little closer to home.
I need to weigh their cost against the much higher cost and maybe slight performance improvement with lighter wheels.
