Question rear view mirror replacement

Where can I get the best price on a replacement rearview mirror for my 2000 Acura TL?

Also, my AC quits cooling after a few hours on the road.

Welcome! I'd recommend the stealership for an OEM replacement rearview mirror. The adhesive might be tricky to make work, however.

Regarding your A/C, maybe your compressor needs to be looked at?

is your mirror distorted in the view? bubbles-dots on the edge or a large oval in the middle..or broke the ball or bracket off?

there is a diy for it, have to be careful or you can crack the windshield in the process

to purchase: look at the link next to log out box above- Vendor Directory
thats all the sponsoring vendors of this site, dealers and aftermarket parts, all are reputable and cut a special deal for azine members
call a few dealers or pm or email for price--make sure they know you are acurazine

call your local dealer, mention reading this on acurazine.com and what can they do for price?
There were many mirror units with an internal defect, so the dealer often cuts the price $75 from retail of $150!- if you tell them yours is spotted

does the ac lose cooling abilty or suddenly stops
Is the fan on passenger side of radiator ON with AC On?
how is the coolant in the radiator? and res bottle is at the full mark

find the local AC repair shop
have the ac pressure tested and some `leak finder` with freon added-
have it looked at for leaks after a weeks driving- shop uses a UV light to spot special dye

Could it be the blower motor harness?

Be sure you get the updated mirror, don't buy a used one as you may end up with the same problems. For replacement go to this link, I replaced mine 2 days ago and it's easier than it sounds, this really helps.

My mirror is half mirrored and half darkened. Like half daylight mirror and half nighttime. Can it be fixed without replaceing the mirror?

probably not--the fluid inside is the issue and somehow getting out of its containment area
Most failures get bubbles or dots on the edge or a large oval in the center--but yours may be the new symptom
75$ at dealers if you mention knowing about the problem and past freebies

Different Problem

Mine doesnt have bubbles or anything but it doesn't dim, the green light turns on but no dim at all. Ever since i owned my car (since 2002) my dim feature has never worked now that i think about it. My sealership told me back in the day that my windshield is not the original one and it has been replace by the last owner and he was right because i compared mine to the other tl's, looks exactly the same but mine is a VIRACON. Im guessing when the original owner had the windshield replaced they messed up the mirror some how. Has anyone had this problem about the mirror not dimming ? Is there a home remedy for this problem or just replace it ?

it starts with failure of the dimming feature,,may be some years after it gets bubbles or the oval --then a good hot day rewards your patience and it explodes

sounds like typical service writer bs--different glass LOL

The mirror has a light sensor on each side--when it senses high beams behind you it auto tints
You can test yours by shining a flashlight at the face of it--no darken--= broken

Forgot about tints.

I forgot to mention that my windows are tinted, i think i've read that if you have tints on your back window then the dimming feature doesn't work any more, is that true ? But my tints are not fully dark, i dont know the percentage of the tint but you can still see through them in the day time and also at night unless the car is parked some were that doesn't have a street light around.

thats correct--dark rear tint makes the dim feature inop
There are 2 sensors comparing light on front and back of mirror
tint lowers that rear input

to test if dim works at all- with front of car in darkness simulating night,or at night and parked, shine a flashlight into the side you look at- that should darken right away

Is there an alternative to our rear view mirrors without the auto dimming feature?

an aftermarket mirror from parts store,
may need to glue its own attachment piece to the glass
ask a windshield replacement shop if not sure what to use or do
