Question Rear View Mirror Cloudy

title says it all. I just bought the car ('99 TL), and the rear view mirror seems cloudy/foggy, especially if light hits it a specific way. If I'm driving at night and I turn on the map lights, i can't see JACK! (but then again, Jack wasn't with me at the moment).

my options:
1. new mirror from dealer
2. new mirror from somewhere (that's where i need advice)
3. used mirror from somewhere
4. possibly try to fix it???? maybe replace the glass and keep assembly or something?

any advice please? I've been looking for a mirror for a while and no hope of finding one for a decent price... should I really pay $100 for an 8-year-old mirror? how much is a new one? should i go cheap and buy one of the ugly Broadway clip-on's?

looks like you'll need a replacement. goto www.oemacuraparts.com to buy a replacement. they have the best deals. type in part number 76400-SEP-A02ZA

also before you order, check your local dealer to see how much it would cost, because it's cheaper depending on the dealer.

for example, my clock light went out a few weeks ago. another AZ member bought it at his local dealer for 7 bucks. i got mine at my local dealer for 4 (but don't tell him i told you that. he might get mad )

looks like an extreme case of mirror failure- they tend to get brown spots then explode- putting a possibly hazmat type material all over the interior and maybe you!!

Replace it right away!!!
ANY used ones- like on the bay- will be the old style that fail and leak- so stay away from them and get a new one from the dealer or remove it and lose the lights- put in a basic mirror
Do not put a clip on mirror on top of a dangerous one IMO

A year ago, an email to the manufacturer, Magna Donnelly, would have resulted in a free mirror. That's how I got a free replacement for the mirror in my 1999 TL.

But they stopped sending free replacements out late last year.

But some forum members may have been able to get free replacements via Acura Client Services. Check out the last couple of pages of the "Rear View Mirror exploded!" thread for details:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78061

And, as 01tl4tl wrote, get it replaced as soon as possible. You really don't want it to leak in the car.
