Rear Engine Cover Q

Whats up everyone, feeling like a DA having to even asking but rather do than don’t 🫡 Anyways, in regards to applying rtv, does rtv also go on the inner potions that I drew a green line on? Just want to make sure before I do. Thank you in advance!

The helms states to apply rtv evenly to the block mating surface of the engine block end cover and to the inner threads of the bolt holes.
If not sure, verify engine block & end cover mating surfaces by placing them together.

I have the Acura books for the TL.
The reason I’m asking is because I have lined it up to the block and it doesn’t make sense to put RTV in the green section because on the driver side rear of the head toward the crank has oil that drains down where the cover is. If that section is RTV’ed it would just hold the oil in side and prevent it from circulating. The outside surface of the cover wouldn’t be the same height for no reason unless maybe it’s a repurposed cover that needs RTV there on a different J series? Idk this is why I ask
Edit: typically manuals will at least at minimum have a picture of a broken line where RTV should go

Understood.
I believe forum member @619rcr could possibly provide some insight to your dilemma?
He has familiarity with J32's.

Hondabond/ oil resistant sealant goes around the outer perimeter of the rear main cover. There's also a round seal toward the top that must be replaced. There wasn't sealant around the main seal itself.

I actually just took a cover plate off a j35a3 block today, you can see residue where sealant was:

One last tip, dip the end of the screws in sealant before installing, to seal the screw to the holes.

THANK YOU very much brother! This is everything I needed to see as I wasn’t the one who removed the sealant
