Ran a G35 auto Sedan tonight...

i'm modded w/ headers/icebox... and he was stock (don't know who this guy was .. some random G' owner on the street) ..

Temp was 55 degrees out .. he was seemingly stock. We were dead even from a stop twice ... after we hit 75mph.. we shut it down.

I was very impressed w/ the G.

FINALLY, a realistic story. I was getting tired of the

"I for real beat a mclaren, for real guys....

I know I did b/c I have TWO of those tornados in the intake....

...well maybe it was parked, I'm not sure, but it looked like it was racing..."

Anyway, congrats on some non-fiction in the seemingly ficition section lately

The sucky thing is this ... had I goen WOT, pedal to the floor as soon as the green light hit ... I'd have just sat there peeling out to 5000 rpms while he got a nice, healthy 1.5 carlength lead ... gotta love RWD.

Chet,

Had it not been for the fact that all the local Acura dealers said they'd void my warranty (even if THEY installed the S/C) ..I'd have already put it in ... <sigh>

The look on the G35 driver's face was interesting .. i don't think he knew I was modded, but that's all the better. I didn't think he thought I could keep up or even nearly edge him out. Me likey.

With your mods, you would've beaten him if you had a good launch.

yeah it definitely had to be the launch, because i've had several encounters with the G35 sedan auto and my TLS is completely stock and the races were pretty much dead even..you have icebox and headers, you would have definitely beat the G35 if your launch was better..that or the G35 was modded too.

or the G35 Sedan was the rare 6-spd... but somehow i doubt that... i can't know for sure.. but i know i would have gotten creamed by a 6-spd. The more I think about it... the more I realize that during the two runs we had.. everything happen'd soooo quickly... i can't know that i wasn't pulling away from him.. perhaps I was... it's hard to know unless we let it go to 120mph .. which is out of the question for me.

I should have figured that if warranty wasn't an issue Peter would have had the S/C put in already.

BlackShadow: I think you are wrong...
I've posted this before, but a guy I work with has the coupe and my car is clearly quicker. We mess around week in, week out.

I agree with Peter over the launch issues. I will say my new tires help me even get ahead of him quicker (by 55 or 60mph) than getting behind the same car length to a car and a half on the launch as in your story...

That all being said, I really haven't found anyone else to mess around with except on the highway and the few times there (from 70's to 80's) it's been about the same result. A neighbor has a 350Z track edition with a Stillen intake and exhaust and he is clearly quicker than I but less so at speed. Either way he's ahead...

From my understanding the 6MT G35 isn't out until November, but it is coming. So is an AWD version in I think January...

For the coupe no, but for the sedan yes. The '04 sedans are supposed to be coming out in November with the option of 6-speed. As for the sedans you see on the street now, they are 90% most likely auto.
