Radio Interference

I recently had a hands-free cell phone system professionally installed, Tri-mode antenna. However, I am now experiencing interference on the radio (FM). I have been told that I need to move the antenna from the rear window.

Has anyone experienced this condition? If so, where is the best place to reposition the antenna?

Anywhere but the rear window - that is where your radio and GPS antenna are located. How do you feel about the euro Cougar look, smack dab in the top middle of the windshield?

Question

Are you sure it has to do with the rear antenna? I've noticed that when my cell phone is in the cubby under the coin holder and it rings, the radio starts humming like crazy! I don't have an external antenna or hands free connected.

My cell phone does the same. I don't have handsfree kit but when I'm on the phone talking, if I get my phone close to the stereo, it starts humming. So I usually turn the stereo off.

I thought he was implying constant interfearance. My Nextel was really making some crazy ticking noises through the stereo if I got it too close to the Navi display.

Solution - no Nextel! This occasional interfearance is baffling. However, the rear window sounds like another area that is succeptible to interfearence. Try moving your antenna around to find the best location.

I have considered the top center of the front windshield. However, I am concerned about the Black mat that on the inside of the window. Can you mount an antenna over this stuff?

I have not tried, but I don't believe you will have a problem. Your antenna works on induction, and the black film around the edge of the window should not hamper that.
