Apparently if you hold in 1 and 6 with the radio off and then turn it on it should give you some number which if you give to the dealer they can run it and give you the code.

You have discovered the radio anti theft- disconnect battery- needs code

Look in your owner manual for a handwritten 5 digit code, maybe a dealer biz card
Look inside the glovebox- some people write it on the edge
Look inside the fuse cover in the engine bay- sometimes a sticker there

Remove panel on pass side to gain access to rear of radio (see threads)
Use mirror to get serial number of radio
OR remove radio
Take info to dealer=Parts can look up the code for you no charge

Write the code in one of those placs for future use

Its not the dealers fault they had to discon the batt to do the starter
Its your job to know the code- so many threads on acurazine about it!

Radio Code

I recently bought an '03 TL-S and there was no manual and no radio code. Acura had me try holding the 1 and 6 buttons and the dealer tried too. No luck. Then Acura told me I needed to get the serial number off the back of the unit for them to provide me with the number. I was planning to have the BlitzSafe adapter installed so I checked with Best Buy and they installed the adapter and pulled out the unit for $50. I took a photo of the bottom with serial and now I should be able to get the radio code from Acura.

BTW the BlitzSafe is great!

I tied the "push 1 and 6 buttons" in various ways but no joy in any format. Key in run position, engine off, radio off then push radio on, yada, yada, yada. I now put this suggestion in the realm of urban myth with no truth to the matter. I also found two sets of numbers on the inside of the engine room fuse holder lid. One 5 digit number (may be the radio code) and one longer number. JC

The hold 1 and 6 buttons only works on 02-03 with the 6 disc changer.

The numbers you read off the fuse cover are not your radio codes. You need to get the code from the dealer, and they will need the unit serial #. No way around it.

I use the Ownerslink website to keep that information. It was good, because I one had my car repaired in Tampa, and was able to get on one of their computers to get to the owners site. I was enjoying music and navi the whole way home.

ATTN FLA-

The 5 digit code radio code is OFTEN found inside the fuse cover under the hood.
Many cars have an actual sticker that was applied at some point in
its original build and delievery.

I totally agree that everyone should register their car at www.acura.com
ownership experience section, you make a free acount that stores your codes and there is all the warranty info on your car there too.

If all else fails and you cant find your Radio Code, you need to contact the dealership where your TL was originally bought from. Ask them if they by any chance have your TL's paperwork still on file because the paper work usually will have the Radio Code in it. I ended up calling a dealer up in New Jersey where mine was originally bought and they had my Radio Code on file with the Paper Work for the car when it was bought. GOOD LUCK.

I actually had an Acura Made Plastic card with the Anti-Theft Radio code on it and it worked perfectly. It was in my Acura Owners manual binder.

Not on an Acura.

???

My car IS a 2003 TL-S with the 6 disc changer.

What we have here is a failure to agree on ANYTHING. JC

I have a 02 TL-S with Navigation. I had a similar issue with my nav unit and its code. I did find a set of imprinted numbers on a sticker located on the back side of the fuse box lid - one for the radio (5-digit) and one for the navi (4-digit). Worked for me and the dealer told me about it.

i believe the people that say that it has worked for them over the people that just say it doesn't work. If you want to argue that it doesn't work...bring in some facts. Don't just say that it doesn't work and leave it at that.

If Acura does not put stickers with radio code inside the fuse cover then
Who is going around putting that info in so many members cars???
AZ members have found it and it works
Of course- every year and model is going to be different

The main point is find out yours now- before you need it!

Thanks for the tip, but I keep that card in a safe place and have the codes stored on the Ownerslink website.

Relax, man...

I am relaxed man, you are the one claiming acura does not put the codes on the car- while half the members here have found said item!

Yes- all should register at www.acura.com and store their code
