racing seats? thinking but have questions

Ok, so not that I'm going to be tracking my car anytime soon but both front seats are getting pretty worn down and the seat belts are getting dangerously loose (they can come out no problem is you give them a really hard tug...accident safety??)

I was thinking that i should just replace the seats with something stylish and comfortable, i don't want to embarrass myself but pretty much the entire side bolster on my driver seat is gone...

a) would it be tacky to get a set of sparco reclining seats with 5 point harnesses? I have a buddy who can give me a pretty decent deal on them

b) more importantly, has anyone done such a task before?

I realize that I would lose my power seat adjuster and what not but frankly i'd rather be sitting as low to the ground as possible anyways and all i'd really need are fore aft and a slight recline so i can use a hand crank.

any insights would be helpful!

Get it but don't get the harness. The harness prevents you from turning your head to check your blind spot. If anything, replace the seatbelts, or buy the harness but still have ur OEM seatbelts attached. YOU WILL BE HASSLED BY COPS.

My orignal plan was to REMOVE the two rear seats, for weight reduction, and have 2 recaros in the front, I have a thing for those JTCC cars......THEN was thinking about 4 seats all together,

I say DO IT, but make sure you got your cars theme down packed...

I use mini blind spot mirrors on the outside mirror so no head turing required
If its not in the mirrors ..it doesnt exist~

the mini spots that allow some angle adjustment--yes--looks cool
havnt had any issues with mine attached to lower inside corner- leave enough room for mirror to fold is the trick

adjustable may be the just the thing on the bike mirrors!

on seatbelts that wont retract-slow retract= we have a 10/150 coverage on that

if you install race belts-- ALSO put your regular belt on or expect hassles-its fed govt rules on seatbelts and despite 5 point being safer--not dot aprroved~

^ i agree somewhat. FULL racing seats make you look like a wannabe. there are some Recaro/Sparco racing seats that look like agressive stock seats.

i think you should just take the stock seats to a shop and get the foam redone more aggressively and get new leather. then just replace the seat belts with oems. this way you get to keep your power seats, and your side airbags.

^hmmm thanks for the input!

Yeah I wasn't going to get full racing seats, I like a bit of comfort! and reclining and whatnot.

I saw a set http://www.sparcousa.com/pseats_street.asp?id=690 that I really liked, and like i said my buddy deals with sparco seats and could get a good price.

They don't seem like complete poser seats, nor do they seem like full buckets but rather somewhere in between

I got a quote on re-foaming and re-leathering at 250 a seat, hence when i realized I could get racing seats for around the same it seems like it might be a good deal.

though i like the four buckets ideas, but then i have zero clue what to do with all the empty space! and that would get hella costly

the seats I liked were all black, low and adjustable. they remind me of the seats in my neighbor's evo 7

wow i had no idea they were only 300! but yeah those dont look too crazy. you also have to include the cost of a new bracket (or fabrication of a new bracket). and 250 a seat is not bad either. i need to get mine done sometime early next year... unless i go with sparco seats as well haha.

I dont know what harness you have but my harnesses i have had in the past have never prevented me from turning my head to look.

Also if your mirrors are adjusted the way they are supposed to be and not the way 99% of the population has them your mirrors will see whats in the blind spot and your head will never have to turn past 20-30 deg

sparco sells universals for 70 and i've seen those for cheaper still.

my buddy said that he's done some acura's with the universal, it's a bitch to get the sliders off the original seat but once it's off it fits like a glove.

our cars have the nice bonus of not having complicated floor wells and the universal can fit in great

haha yeah my friend is going to sell them to me at cost so i could get two seats at $247.78 a piece.

maybe I can have him help me with the bracket and save the money there but if not it's still not a bad deal considering its the same as fabricating the leather seats all over again

Matching upholstery and custom brackets made have to be a must. I had my oem brackets on a previous car, and the seats sat higher.

3rd gen TL and the 1st gen TSX seats is another good option.

Here is how the euro Accord Type R interior is with stock Recaro seats. Just to give you an idea.

They look fantastic! Yeah I'll have a bracket fabricated, for it and I think that black leatherette and black suede (black.black option from sparco) is the best way to go. Eventually as the money keeps coming in I'd want to replace the leather door inserts with suede ones but I don't think the leather and leatherette would clash much. Almost all base bmw's have leatherette and it's not like anyone can tell...when they sit on it maybe but appearance wise i don't think so.

now if only I could have a jdm euroR! my friend imported a pulsar GT-iR a few years back and he has it dragging frame it looks absolutely gorgeous...It was surprisingly painless to get the car here because japan have been using cats like the US (much better ones for the 100 fuel to be honest) since forever ago so no much modification is needed. He said it was like 2g extra to the government on top of his purchase (customs, epa, DOT, DMV, and cat modification) I saw a 4dr Skyline GTS-R that is freaking calling my name...i must resist the urge to email them!

Thats how I have my mirrors set. I'll be keeping them this way for the rest of my life, hardly have to turn your head.

not a direct bolt in.

Also one other thing to remember guys, the 2000+ all have side air bags. Removing the seats will remove them. Your will have a SRS code and none of your other airbags will work (unless you can find a way to trick the system)

New Civic Type R seat in 2020 Acura TLX

I’m curious whether there is ANY way to fit a new Honda Civic Type R (2024) drivers seat into a 2020 Acura TLX. I understand that I would lose electric adjustment, but I simply want to know whether the seat would fit on the Acura rails, even if an adaptor was necessary.

Comparing the two on the links below, I'd say the 2024 CTR seat won't directly fit the Acura TLX rails.
Though, if you have the two on hand & spend enough $$$, you may be able to fashion an adapter to mate them?
2024CTR: | DreamShop (honda.com)
2020TLX: | DreamShop (honda.com)
If the links fail, just look up the two and compare the part graphics for the 'Front Seat Components'.

Acura TLX 2020 seat bracket

If anyone lives near Kirkland, WA, Planted Technology is looking to expand their lineup of car seat brackets. These brackets allow you to replace your OEM front seats with a variety of aftermarket and even Honda racing seats. In order for Planted Technology to create a bracket they need direct access to vehicles so they can have the car floor bolt layout and any contour information. At the moment they do not offer brackets for TLX. I am sure many TLX owners would love the opportunity to use Recaro or other seats in their car. If you are willing to do that, I myself might be willing to reimburse you for your time and travel expenses. Contact me. Here is Planted Technology’s own notice :

“Planted Technology is looking for new and used vehicles to grow our applications offered, but we need your help. We take each and every vehicle into our product development center where we hand build each prototype and test fit it to ensure the best fit possible. If you or someone you know has access to a vehicle missing from our applications guide, and are located near us in Washington State, we'd love for you to contact us so we can schedule a time for you to bring your vehicle in for us to use as a model.

If you're not located near us, but have a vehicle you'd like us to add an application for, please feel free to use social media, forums, etc. to try and refer one to us locally. We've had good luck with referrals like this. The more the word is out there, the quicker we will have the application you need!”

TLX seat bracket

Sorry ! I might have posted wrong place. I’m trying to put a racing seat in a TLX and Planted Tech who makes brackets doesn’t have one for TLX, only for TL. They can only make a bracket if they have a vehicle on hand to create a template. I was just trying to encourage someone on west coast who might be interested in having a racing seat in a TLX, which is what I want. I live on east coast, otherwise I would go to Planted Technology in Washington state and they could make a bracket. Once they have made a prototype they can offer to other TLX owners.
