Raced with a mustang saleen during new year trip to vegas!!!
well....we basically went back to back during the entire 3.5 hr trip to vegas...from LA...
I lead most of the time.... we were trying to over take each other..
I had better lane switchin skills
that car is fast...anyone know the stats on it??
In 3rd gear i won't lose..but with 4th.... His still gets a punch..but my car...just.... won't budge!!!
guess he has more torque on that thing :I
I lose to him during uphills...
other wise... it was pretty much even...

I found these numbers. They are the most conservative numbers I have ever seen for a Saleen. So if this is the slowest Saleen, you car stock would still not be able to keep up, in any gear. Unless of course he wasn't trying. I'm banking on a rebadged GT as well. (I doubt you could keep up with a stock GT either). I am not flaming you, just pointing out that the Mustang is a performance car. I raced against what appeared to be a stock GT in my S4 and the Mustang was definitely faster.
Model - Saleen S-281 Coupe 14.1 / 98
1/4 Mile (second)/MPH - 14.1
MPH (second) - 0-60 - 5.2
Lat. Accel. - .93g
Braking FT. 60-0 MPH - 109
Resale Value - HIGH
M.S.R.P* - $ 32,999
I also found some numbers on Supercars.net.

those numbers are REALLY high for a saleen, these are the numbers of a Mustang Cobra
0-60 - 4.8
1/4 mile - 13.5
top speed - 148
And Saleens are faster than Cobra's
Here are the #'s for a stock Mustang GT
0-60 - 6.0
1/4 mile - 14.7
top speed - 139
You'd have trouble hanging with a GT, you'd lose big to a Cobra and lose by even more to a real Saleen.

The current model S4 is no longer being produced. Some dealers may have some, but the new ones won't be out until late 2003. No word on what kind of power they will be producing.

Not 14 flat, more like 14.5 in the 1/4. With a chip and exhaust system they produce over 300hp. Very quick and fun.

I hate to tell you but if that was a real Saleen and he was serious about racing you, you would have got annihilated. Those things are soooo fast our TLs don't stand a chance in hell, no matter what you have on it. My buddy has a 2000 Cobra and last time we were fooling around, he made me look like I was in reverse. Trust me, you don't want to f**k with one of those.

Last time I checked there were several different model Saleen Mustangs available.
There are a few different models of Saleen Mustangs, from mild modded to wild supercharged beasts.
Like the SR Coupe:
351 cid (5.8L) Saleen Centrifugal Supercharged OHV 90 degree V-8
Horsepower - 505 @ 5400 / Torque - 500 ft. lbs. @ 3500
Compression ratio 8.2:1 / Bore and stroke - 4.00" x 3.50"
SALEEN SR 11.8/124.0
0-60:4.0
Lateral G: 1.09g
Braking 60-0: 98
Price:$158,000
LOL but I am sure it was not one of these.

I think you might still have your work cut out for you. Those things have serious juice and I mean really serious. I was trying my hardest, just mashing on the gas as hard as I could, and I really felt like I was in reverse. Those things have so much torque they just pull away from you at any speed. It's unbelieveable. I hate to be a bandwagon junkie but that thing was hella fast. I can assure you one thing, your tint, camber kit, and other mods won't help you much against that thing.

Now you're talking...if you had a C36 or a new M3, I think you would give a Saleen a run for the money. I know for sure you would be able to hang or beat an S281 but when you get up to the S351 and the supercharged version, then you may have to step up to a Ferrari, Porsche Turbo or Lamborghini.
#23
It looks like the S281 is like $33K base, there's an S281 Supercharged which is $60K base, and an S351 Supercharged is about $160K base. Doesn't look like they have an unsupercharged S351 anymore and the supercharged one doesn't even look like mustang anymore.

If you really wanted to hang with performance cars like M3s, Mootangs, or whatever the hell else, you should have purchased a real performance car (read: not a TL). :o

If it was an M3, or C32 you'd have 20000 less money in the bank. Part of that 20 grand could go into aftermarket stuff to trounce the M3 or C32...but it would still be a Ford... : )
