Questions about service on 03 TL

Hi all - first time poster here - so plz go easy on the newbie

My 2003 TL 3.2 is at 34K and I just brought it in to plug a slow leak on the RF tire.

The Acura dealership plugged the leak and came back and recommended the following changes:

Brake Fluid flush $140
Transmission fluid flush $140
Power Steering flush $140

I haven't gotten these done before. The service dept says they are slightly contaminated. I have 2 queastions.

1) Is 34K a reasonable mileage to get these fluids flushed?
2) Are these prices I listed reasonable or am I getting fleeced?

Thanks!

That's kinda steep.

I had my brake flush for $80 but usually that's done at 45k or 60k
ATF is not normally flushed, just drain and filled, normally $60-70
PS fluid!! why????

I think they're picturing "SUCKER" on your forehead

1) Isn't necessairly dependent upon the mileage, brake fluid needs to be changed every XXX number of years, as it absorbs water. I think 3 yrs is the recommended interval. As for the price, I don't know, seems a little on the high side IMO.

2) One drain and refill is enough. Don't worry about the flush.

3) Don't worry about it. If you're going to do it, change it at 100K. You can actually use a turkey baster and suck out as much of the fluid as you can, periodically, and it'd be sufficient.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I think I'll just fix the leak and then wait on the fluids... and get them done elsewhere for cheaper!

The brakes arent necessary. Brininging it to a Brake shop to let them bleed it should be alot less money.

tranny would be something i would do. If you have ever changed your own oil we can tell you how to change the fluid on the TL. Its Very easy.

Steering isnt necessary yet.

Same question above except I'm at 90K now. What's the appropriate things to get done at a 90k maintenance?
