Question regarding a used 1999 TL
I need some input from all of you TL owners please. A dealership in town is selling a 1999 TL with 130000 miles on the Odo. The tranny was replaced about 15000 miles ago. I've tried to do some investigating around the web on the model myself and havn;t really seen anything bad (except for numerous posts about the trannies going out). What i would like to know from you guyz is this; is it a good buy at $8400. It seems to drive ok, and the interior is in excellent condition. THe engine looks to be very clean as does the outside appearance of the vehicle. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanx!!

I would say the price is a little bit too high for a car with 130K miles on it, even though you can put in another 100k easily in it. I got a 99 with 93K miles a few months ago and paid only 10K (final price, with taxes and everything else included. Actual final price was $10.068) for it. Oh, and it has a navigation system, too.

I would go even lower,.. say $7500. But there are a few things to consider. Does it have Navigation? Do they have the history on it? The tranny was replaced,.. but how many times? Does it come with any warranty?
In any case,.. always do your homework. Make them supply you with a CarFax report. And never pay asking price. Pay no more than $8000.

I bought my 99 with 91k miles for $9800 before trade. It is in very good shape. I split the timing belt service with him ($250 out of my pocket) and I love it. 99's have that sweet 4 speed (thank god)

I searched for months for my Acura TL then stumbled across one at a house I sold. The owner was very meticulous, with all recalls and maintenance done on schedule. Front and rear rotors and pads replaced by Acura at 30,000 miles, 30,000 mile service done at 35,000, EGR valve replaced and the entrance key problem fixed. A buddy of mine at the local garage ran a carfax for me for free and it came out clean. The owner had every receipt for oil changes and the car was in mint condition. It is a 99 TL Navi with about 39,000 miles on it. I paid $11,000 for it in Sept. 2005. It turned 7 years old on Nov. 28th, 2005. Great deal but I really think you should be paying around 8k or less. Check to see if the timing belt was replaced and run a carfax on it to see if any other issues pop up. Then wheel and deal. Dealers charge more than individual owners. That's why I don't deal with dealers. The trade in value of my car was what I paid for it. I know I got a great deal and am happy. After 9,000 miles the car is still perfect. NO problems at all.
