Question about spark plugs
#3
The spark plugs in the '02s and newer are "maintenance-free" for 105K miles. They are platinum-tipped and will last for at least that amount. Unless you do a *lot* of short-trip driving or excessive idling, there should be no need to change them before then.

since we are talking about spark plugs...
(although not the ones on my TL).. I am already getting ready for spring time tune-up on the family minivan - '98 Pont Montana with 85k km on it-
GM has put an extended life platinum plug on this engine also, suppost to be good for 100k.. yeah right.......
So I took a quick look at the front 3 plugs 2 weeks ago.. just for the hell of it.
Well the gap was out and they needed a good cleaning. I also think its a good idea to pull them out / inspect / reinstall evry 50k just so they dont "fuse" themselfs in the head.

Our spark plugs may not need any changes, I'd change them out at 45,000 anyways. If you don't change them, have the dealer unscrew then, squirt some WD40 and retighten them. This is to prevent them from sticking when your car reaches 105,000 miles. A friend of mine had to have his spark plug bored out because it was stuck.
