Question about dyno gragh...

..i got my car dyno-ed the other day on a dynojet. pulled 206 whp and 177 wtq

that's with XS header and everything else stock. I'm just a little concerned about the way the graph looked like....the hp and tq line aren't smooth lines, but they are rather bumpy from 2.5k rpm all the way to redline. is there something wrong? could my tires and wheels have anything to do with it? i haven't had them balanced for a long time and the steering wheel do shake a bit at highway speed.

I would've thought i should be at least getting 215whp and higher tq numbers than that.

can't find a scanner to post the graph.....maybe on the weekend i'll post it up to show more clearly what i mean.

car is 03 TL-S

It depends what kind of dyno it is, and what kind of smoothing they have set on it when dyno'ing. If the smoothing is set higher, the lines will be smoother and it won't look as bumpy. Turn smoothing off and they'll look really choppy. Nothing to really worry about unless there are very big dips which might be knock or something like that... but very doubtful in this case.

What kind of dyno was it on? Dynojets typically read higher than most, where as Dyno Dynamics and Mustang type dynos generally read on the lower side. Not a big deal, as dyno's are used to tell gains between mods instead of actual output really.

it was dynojet. and it's more choppy than jjashaa's graph but i guess smoothing was set at 0 now that i took a second look at it.

haha i should really just scan that sucker and let u guys see it. i see a small dip around 4k rpm and spikes here and there, then again i've never analyzed these before so i wouldn't know

Scan it up so we can take a look at it. Any idea what a stock TL makes on that dyno? That's a good way to compare what your mods have done.

Smoothing factor must have been up higher than the original poster's. It's just personal preference for the tuner/dyno shop really... turn it up too much though and it's an easy way for tuners to hide things they don't really want you to see necessarily.
