Question About Bulbs of D2S and D2R

i'm doing a retrofit on my 2000 TL. i know it comes with HID reflector but i was wondering if i could fit the DRS bulbs in my stock ballast? is that possible or do i need to use my stock D2R because it won't fit? or will it be possible to get new bulbs of D2S... by the way,i'm doing a retrofit with the AV6 projectors.

i'm not too sure what you are asking about the fit the drs bulb on ur stock ballast. Your ballast will connect to either a D2R or D2S bulb. The connections are the same. Just that the D2R bulb has a reflector shield on the bulb itself and the D2S bulb doesn't. If you tried to use the D2R bulb while using a projector, it'll come off hella ugly because there'll be two cut off shields, one from the projector, and one from the bulbs. So no, don't use the D2R bulbs with the projectors, you need the D2S because it has no shield on the bulb. It'll run you around 60 bucks for the D2S bulbs.

haha, yessir. And from the question you asked, i think you should do a little more researching on the retro because it seems like you aren't too familiar with it. Good luck on the retro though. You gotta take lots of pics for people who are interested in doing the retros to their 2000 TL's.

I am doing a OEM bulb (D2R) replacement on my 2000 TL. I have to replace the U shaped lamp retaining spring - old spring is broken. Anyone have an ideas where to purchase one?

Yes - it is a U shaped spring and holds the bulb in place prior to attaching the high voltage plug. I inquired w/ a dealer, and they do not sell the retaining spring separate. You have to purchase the entire assembley $160.

The retainer spring was messed up when I removed the HV cap, so I really don't know what was holding the bulb in place. Good question.

sucks dude, I'm not too sure where you can find another one of those. Maybe you can find a broken headlight or maybe a very cheap projector and use that metal clip from it.

Are you talking about this clip here?

Call your local Acura dealer parts department. They should be able to quickly tell you if the spring is available separately. (If it is it might be a special order part.)
