question about 100k maintenance

hello, new here on acurazine. i just bought a 03 tl type s with 120k on it last week. my question is how can you tell if the car had the 100k maintenance like timing belt and water pump? i asked the dealership and they did not know.

You can inspect the timing belt. Sometimes the belt is replaced with a non-honda brand which would give it away. There is also a way to tell on the water pump, but I dont know how you do that.

Sometimes when the timing belt is changed, the mechanic marks a date somewhere by the belt. That's what they did with my brother's legend.

most people selling a TL with 120 have not spent $1000 getting it serviced first- thats why they sold it!
Look for clean bolts on plastic cover for timing belt area- parts wiped clean with a shop rag, bolts with paint worn off edges from wrench

Check a spark plug, if they are not new, the rest of the service wasnt done either

alright, what other things would you guys recommend to change along with the timing belt and water pump?

plugs. I also would do a drain and fill on the tranny.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, but when I had the trans fluid changed at the dealership, my tranny sh*t the bed within 3K miles. I had about 70K on it at the time I think.

The transmission fails without warning on these cars, it's unrelated to the service.

the car had the transmission replaced at 75k so im not so worried about that anymore. i can hear one of the belts but not sure which one.

I would still go a maximum of 30k on your trans fluid between fluid changes "new" trans or not
