Don't do it, our headlights aren't flat like the 99-01 so it will look funny. 3g's can pull it off since theirs are flat

Now, sir, I must do it.

People said quad projectors would look funny too... and it ended up looking badass.

I think it would look great, maybe a custom shroud to fill in some of the area?? I almost bought the MDX leds from TRS a while back to retrofit.

I'm thinking that the silver bezel that comes on the headlights will compliment the contour of our headlights quite nicely. I will definitely need to come up with something to fill in the space, but it shouldn't be too much space to fill, based off of the dimensions of the black MDX "shroud" thing that comes on it already.

Regardless, it will happen!

Well, it doesn't look like I'll be doing this retrofit anytime soon; I'm not even sure if I'll have a TL any longer.

I was in the far right lane on a 4 lane road (2 each direction) and there was a car on a side street to my right. They had their signal to turn left across my lane of traffic and then join the lanes going the other direction. The speed limit was 45, and I was driving 45. The car began to pull out to turn, but then stopped, I think they must have realized how close I was to them at the time. As I got closer, they pulled out into my lane, and I slammed on the brakes and still couldn't stop in time. I must have hit their car going 30 miles per hour.

Driver was uninsured and fled, I got the license plate # and called the cops. Guy also had a few warrants on him. Have to get in contact with my insurance, but my uninsured driver coverage is $10,000 with a $250 deductible. Very glad to be alive and well, but was and am still torn to see something that I put so much time and effort (and money) into just disappear.

Bummer.....sorry man !!!
Sometimes things just happen so quick, that you can't react in time.

Hopefully the cops nail the dude, and you get everything settled out.

In the meantime, with the damage shown in your pic, the car will be totalled. But, there's always the buy back feature and tons of good used front clips in the salvage yards to fix your car up for cheap. Maybe try locating another TL......or even consider the jump to an '07>'08 TL with a 6 speed stick.

Relax and do what's right for you !!!

I still have to get a mechanic to let me know if the car is worth fixing, and if it isn't, I found a 2003 TL Type-S in SSM, so it would be like nothing happened

I loved my 2G so much and would hopefully be able to swap over my ISC Suspension, Ingalls ETD, 3G TL rims w/ Michelin Pilots, and other things like that if I got another 2G.

If the car is worth fixing, I am tearing it to the ground, and rebuilding it as a 3.7 with a 6 speed.

For the time being, I guess I am limited to my other Honda-family vehicle

Thanks for the concern everyone, I'll keep you updated!!

Bummer. Sucks that happened but from the pic, damage looks very minor. All cosmetic.

Which is why I want my mechanic to look at it; it may be one of those "looks worse than it actually is" types of things. Which is the case, hopefully.

Sorry to hear about the accident, but most importantly is your safety!

Keep your head up and push through, Sir. I must admit, I fell in love with the 2G, but acquiring a 3G would be awesome if indeed the car is totaled and get a decent payout.

Just a little update for everyone... After much back and forth with insurance, and internal debate, I have made up my mind, and am picking her up next weekend. I hate to part with my 2G TL, but I saw this beauty and that's all she wrote. I purchased a 2005 Acura TL 6 Speed (Type-S clone).

Sad to leave the 2G side, but I'll still be here on the 3G side! First order of business, retroing the MDX LEDs into the headlights

Thanks all!

Congrats !!!
The 3rd Gens are totally awesome and the best TL's to date, IMO.
They are a great value and even better when mated up to the 6 speed stick.

Thanks for being a great contributing 2nd Gen member, I'm sure you'll inspire the 3G guys.

Just a heads up to the 2G members, keep an eye open on the Black Market, I will be selling so much stuff and doing a partout of my car. Everything from carbon fiber wrapped interiopr trim to leftover Morimoto projectors and HID Ballasts. XLR8 suspension and Ingalls ETD.

Just figured I would give y'all a fair warning.

Thanks,
Tyler
