Pulleys installed

Just had my crankshaft, power steering and alternator pulleys changed. The OEM parts weigh so much more than the UR ones. They say you have to a few days to feel the gains because the computer has to learn the lighter rotation or something like that. So far they are quiet and seem to work well. Ill post after I disconect the battery for a day and drive around to reprogram. I use Goodyear gatorback belts and they are really quiet.

I read that those pulley decreases the power that runs your stereo, amps, and other electrical things. So if say you stop at a light with your amps or PS2 running (the few lucky ones out there), you may notice your dash lights may go dimmer once in a while. Some Accord V6s here at a local forum had them installed by later removed them since it makes their headlights, amps, stereos, and other things under perform.

the computer doesn't have to do anything, pulleys are strictly mechanical. lighter rotational mass = quicker movement. and yes, they do impact the electrical system. good for race cars, bad for a car like the TL, in my opinion.

and i would have left the crank alone if it were me

I have heard nothing but bad things of pulleys on everyday cars with gizmos and gadgets. I heard it being especially bad on the altenator. Keep us up to date on a monthly basis.

yep the harmonic dampner is not something you want to F*ck with....with an engine like ours having oil leak into the tranny isnt a good thing and god bless your crank bearings....cus those pullies (with out the harmonic dampner) will tear up your bearings...

Not necessarily. Because the UR pulleys are perfectly balanced, there is minimal chance of crank bearing problems. Acura puts the harmonic damper on their crank pulley cause it's cheaper than making a perfectly balanced pulley. It comes down to cost. UR spent a lot of time making sure the pulley was balanced.
