Pro's for being too Paranoid!!
So ever since I read up about the bad trannys we TL's have, I've been more than parnoid of this problem. While driving, anything that seems remotely close to a slippage, I'd be all paranoid. So I decided to take my car to an Acura dealer here in Cerritos, CA.
Not sure if you guys read my other post about how vicious the 06 Rav 4 V6, but if you didn't, my gf's parents has one of those and man, does that shit have some power. My TLS didn't seem to pull like that Rav 4. To me, it felt like my car didn't kick that much. Like it was missing an umpphhh, if you know what I mean. Anyways, it just seemed like the gas pedal was just too heavy. I would it explain it as," gas pedal is too hard to push down." When I wanted to gun it, i would have to step really hard on the gas pedal for it to go fully down.
For some reason, I didn't think of this much. So when I took the car in to have the tranny checked out, it came back fine. One thing they did find was that the gas pedal's throttle cable wasn't connected properly. Supposedly, whoever messed with the car before me, hooked up the throttle cable the wrong way. This explains why the gas pedal was sooo hard to push down. This explains why my car wasn't kicking like it was supposed to be. It didn't allow me to be in FULL THROTTLE.
Anyways, it was fixed, free of charge!! NICE!!! I was still under warrenty, but it doesn't really cover something like this. The guys there really helped me out and didn't charge me. So after I get my car back, sure enough, the gas pedal is light and so easy to push down. Amazingly, my car is fast as shit now. When I'm driving about 30 MPH, and I floor that shit, WOW, it pulls like crazy. I would say it pulls twice as much as it did before. At first, I just thought my car was already fast, but now, DAMN!!!! It's haulling ass and I can't complain.
So me being parinoid somewhat helped my car to it's full potential. If I didn't take it in, I'd probably would never known something was wrong with the throttle cable.
