problems with navi

Has anyone had any problems with there 1999 tl navi. I had a new region loaded on mine by the dealer and now it does not work. The dealer has had to load the region 3 times and every time after a few days it stops working and the screen reads hard disk unformatted. The dealer claims that there is nothing wrong with my system but I have already had them replace the hard drive for me and it still does not work.

Same problem here..................since May! Acura is supposedly taking care of it ("Certified" used Acura), but so far, a lot of talk and no action that's helped. Dealer being 125 miles away doesn't make it any easier.

If you are out of warranty, consider replacing your Navi unit with DVD based 2000+ - can get it from junk yard, and it plugs into the same harness. Will probably cost you less than HD service from dealer.

Apparntly, it is very easy in that the back-end unit for the DVD nav has the same plug-in as the HD unit. Several people on the board have done this with great success.

I haven't yet as my system is working fine however if it does go out, I will be calling junk yards in the area for any 2k> nav systems to switch it out.

Later,

Axe
