Exclamation Preliminary 2003 TL News:

The following quote is part of a message sent to all Acura dealers from the main Acura Sales Division on 12/7/01. The subject is the January Move Allocation.

3.2TL

1. This is the first allocation for the 03MY

2. The 3.2TL allocation is for February arrivals

3. White Diamond Pearl will be constrained at 23[%].

4. Anthracite is now available on all models.

5. Navigation models will include On-Star.

And yes, the 3.2CL is getting 6 speed:

3.2CL

1. This is the first allocation for the 03MY

2. A 6MT is available on the Type-S models and is constrained at 40[%].

3. Navigation models will include On-Star

4. Anthracite is available on all models.

5. Coverage of 3 units per dealer will be applied.

Note: The 6MT will be very limited in future months-review your order carefully"

Damn, when I bought Anthracite wasn't an available color for the Type-S . IMO it looks better than Satin Silver. Oh well, pretty interesting that WDP is being constrained to 23% though...wonder what that is about...

EDIT: Got this from BobB over on the CL board.

WHy is the 2003 model coming out so early??? So does this mean there is no exterior change to the body besides color? COOL. I could care less for onstar.

Red face

Hmm...

Yeah, that's kinda early. I just got my car at the end of October and a newer revision is already around the corner.

On Star would be cool in case of an emergency though, but its only a small addition to the 2003.

Lets hope they didn't change anything else like the body, interior, lights, or even engine/trans. Concerning the trans, if there is indeed a problem, I hope all the later build-date 2002's have the revised tranny.

Hope our cars stay young for a long time. Gonna Zaino mine tomorrow.

DAMN IT!!!! Anthracite DOES look better than SSM IMO..... White was still my first choice though... but Anthracite was my second, tied with SSM.... but the more I see it, the more I like it....

You think you guys are mad...how about all the 01 owners who basically got rapped by acura...Our cars are the same as 00, then the 02 comes out only less then 5-6 months after ours...what a rip...03 are coming out way too early..they should be consider 02 1/2...or something like that..

I had On Star in my Tahoe and thought it wasn't worth sh!t!!! Not once were they able to find my destination. It's worse than stopping to ask for directions because you're asking someone that usually doesn't know squat about the city in which you are travelling.

I was travelling once and couldn't find the street for which I was looking. I thought I was pretty much going in the right direction but I called OnStar just to make sure. So I stopped (so I could right down the directions if necessary) and called them. They told me the street was 10 miles in the opposite direction which I was already headed. I started going back that way, then decided they couldn't be right and went back the way I was originally going. Turns out that the street I wanted was only about 200 feet from where I had stopped to call OnStar. That's pretty lame.

So, don't waste your money on OnStar, especially if you already have the nav.

Wow ! 2003 model year cars released in January 2002. Next time round, Acura will beat every other car manufacturers on earth by releasing 2005 model year cars in 2003, or even 2004 model year cars in late 2002.

LIKE ME!!! That's why I traded in my '01 TL. If anthracite had been available in type S this year I would probably have opted for it. I love that shade of grey. Silver still looks better than anything when its not totally clean and free of dust and residue.

I'm just glad they aren't making major changes in '03. Its such a drag when a car becomes the "older style" after just one year.

That really sucks... hopefully no major changes will be done until later on in the 02 year or early 03 year. Glad Acura is making better products but they shouldn't be pushing them out so soon when people are just getting their 02 TL-S's and everything...

Also, OnStar cost $199.00 a year for the basic features and $400.00 for the enhanced features

No, it is an "extra" option basically, it's a wittle button on the roof of your car that you push if you need any assistance. There have been commercials on where the guy got locked out of his car, and called On Star and they remotely unlocked it! HEHE! I thought that was cool. But I dont' really care for On Star, there is a annual fee I think.
