Question Power Door Locks-2000 TL

I just got my 2000 TL and it is AWESOME! Now I know what I've been missing all along. My question to you all is: Are the doors supposed to lock automatically once the car is in drive and moving forward? The reason I ask this is because on a lot of other high end cars and with some alarms, the doors automatically lock if the doors are closed and the key is switched to the on position or the car is in drive and moving. Also, is there any "add-on" to the factory alarm, such as a door lock relay, that I can install to accomplish this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No our doors don't lock automatically.

There is no "add-on to the factory system", however I'm sure a good alarm installer could get it to do that.

This is a feature that the TL should have had. This is also found on some lower- end cars to My sister had rented a DODGE STRATUS when she had hit a deer with her minvan & it was being fixed. The STRATUS had this feature in it. I did get this feature on the TL when I got the Clifford Alarm installed. Its called RPM Autolock. With the alarm you can turn the feature off if desired.
The alarm also gives you the option to have the car unlock the doors when its put in park. I did not like this so I had that part turned off.

I had that option with aftermarket car alarms, but I don't really see a need to replace the factory alarm and was hoping that I could just get a power door lock relay for it. I'm sure I can wire one up, it's just a matter of figuring out if the locks' solenoid valves are positively or negatively triggered and how the factory alarm brain is setup, but I was hoping that somebody else might have pioneered this for me. Thanks for the input though, and yes, it would have been a nice feature to include...

Some remote starter systemsb to that. I had a DEI remote starter on my '93 Vigor. It would lock the doors when starting the car and unlock them when I turned the car off.

somepeople hate it... i personally like it....
but i liked it in my TBIRD because:

It locked after you shifted "through" reverse....

it DIDNT unlock when u went back into park, however, u could still open the doors from the inside without hitting unlock. It had the kind the door could be locked and pulling the handle unlocked and opened... I still grab the handle and try to open the door on my TL when its locked and forget you have to unlock it first.
