Potenza RE950 Tires Are On!

Just got my new Bridestone Potenza RE950 235/45 tires on my TL-S and man, it's a whole new car! My original tires went very quickly... I just hit 30,000 miles. These new tires have transformed my car into a whole new driving machine. What an unbelievable change. It has killed all my desire to start looking for a new car. I fell in love with the damn car all over again.

Good choice. Stock tires sucked so bad, just about any tire on the market would do better than stock. I love my RE950's.

I'm thinking of putting the RE950
s on my Max. I used to have RE910's on our old ES300, and they gripped the road in the dry and wet like nobody's business... very nice tires.. My RE92's blow big chunks compared to the 910's... i hope the 950's are a better trade off.

Yep... still got the stock rims. I got an amazing deal, family member works for TirePros. He told me they were the first he's received (for this model #). They assured me that this was an ok tire size to replace the old stock ones.

Got any pics?

Anyone else running 235/45 tires on Stock TL Type S rims??? Sounds awfully wide!

It does look like the outside diameter matches the stock tires almost exactly though...

I believe that you have to put the pic on a web page and then use the 'IMG' button in the vB Code section to link to it...

Yes, tires can change a car. I know I don't have a Type S but stock tires suck regardless. These tires changed the car, IMO. Much better than stock michelins. The tire noise isn't any louder or quieter. The noise is just different. One I can live with.

Anyone ever try the Bridgestone RE950 and the Dunlop SP5000?

Both are in the same pricve range but just wondering the capabilities between the two. Any opinions besides the fact the Sp5000 is an older tire?

The drive is INSANE!! Unreal difference. On the freeway, damn, it's a whole new car. All the little sweaks, and rattle that my TL made at low speeds, over speed bumps, etc... ARE GONE. Like I said before, my brother works for Tire Pros, so I got an employee price on them.

Ok, I'm going to ask one more time... Anyone else running 235/45 tires on Stock TL Type S rims??? Sounds awfully wide for a 7" wide rim!

Also, I'd love to see a couple of other pictures from different angles...

Thanks!

I haven't heard from others yet. The vice president of Tire Pro's did a check on my car and all the tires that I can upgrade to... these were at the top of his list. I don't have a chance to take anymore pictures... but trust me, they look hot. I've got some great compliments.

I have the SP 5000s on my '97 Maxima and absolutely love them. I replaced the original stockers on the Maxima with them, ran them for 60,000 miles and just recently replaced them with another set. They are amazing in the dry, very good in snow (really good during this insane New England winter) and quiet. Plus 60,000 out of a Z-rated tire is exellent. Highly recommended and when my stockers crap out on my TL-S, that's what I will be getting.

Thanks Pianoman.

Sp5000 does seem to be the best overall consensius to performance and value for a mid-priced tire.

Do you think there's be any major issue with going from 50 series to 45 series (w/ same tread width and wheel diameter) on the Max?? Like you, I'm suffering with the RE92s and I'm not willing to spend a fortune for Michelin Pilots.

I stand corrected. I guess it's the CL-S wheels that are 7" ???...

Tirerack's site says the rim width range for the RE950 in 235/45/16 is 7.5" - 9.0". It seems to me like putting those tires on stock TL-S rims would be really pushing it...

Okay everyone, this is all too good information.

So...what do you think about the ContiSport Contact and ContiSport Contact 2s?

I've got a set of 225-45 R17 in mind.
