This kit is done sweet. The unit doesn't stick out at all, it just sits flush and looks like the nav unit came with the car. 2 thumbs up on this one.

Uncald4 has some sweet kits too.

its a pioneer z1. mine was bypassed. i do not recommend driving with movies on, i did it so that i could modify route without stopping. my suggestion is to get the pioneer steerin wheel control in put it where the acura one is. the acura one is useless. u can get the stock controls to work if you really need it to. there is a delay tho.

That ebay store doesn't exist...any other ideas? I need to get a wood trim to cover my screen

Yes I had a body shop paint those pieces. It doesn't smudge too bad as long as you don't keep your fingers on it. I have a cloth I keep in the glove box to wipe it every couple days. It shows dust incredibly easy

Does anyone know where and how much those carbon gray interior trims are and if they have them for the tl? I've seen them for the cl, but I was wondering if they would fit, and if they also have some for the rear doors.

There is no double din kit for the TL or CL. The Kenwood above has a thin piece of plastic taped to the decks chassis. It's cut to fit in the trapezoid dash area. I'm sure it has fallen off since that picture was taken.

Everyone is going to have different opinions. I've installed hundreds of these. So, when I'm giving my preference it's based around user friendly features and compatibility with the car.

Kenwood's DDX-6019 is my favorite double din screen. Easy. Easy. Easy to add on to. My second choice is the Pioneer AVH-P6800. It's a 6 disc in dash changer with great features. Moderately easy to add on stuff. The user interface is somewhat hard to navigate.

As far as navigation.... Pioneer has very little competition. The AVIC-Z2 is by far the best NAVI piece on the market. If you are looking to keep it simple and not spend $2200, check out the AVIC-D3. It still have plenty of usable features and the same navigation system as the Z2.

Please email or PM me if you have any questions. I am the AZ vendor that makes the double din kits and prepares the harnesses. If you're a research nut... go to the Sponsored Sales and Group Buys area and check out this thread....

I can most definitely make you a kit. I apologize for not answering your email. I don't recall reading one that I didn't answer. Fabricating kits for Eclipse screens is a bit longer process. Most of their screens or faces are either bigger than standard or much smaller than standard. Since I fabricate every kit with your specific requirements I would need you to mail me the trim ring that comes with the AVN5500. I don't use trim rings to fab the kit but I do need it to measure the opening.

Please shoot me an email or PM with your time requirements and any questions that you might have.

Thank you.
-Travis

Aaaahhh. I had a dream of integrating my Zune. I was going to fill in the storage space below the Metra kit to the width of the Zune and have it slide in to the dock (mounted in the back).

Unfortunately, the dock is all one circuit board and there was no way I could mount it the way I wanted. Dream aborted.

Of course then I didn't need a $500 head unit (JVC single DIN w/ 3.5" screen), I just needed an Aux input = $120.

Great job though. And glad to see another Zuner with a TL.

JMAL,
I have looked around for an installation guide for putting the Z2 in my '02 TL, and everyone keeps talking about how you are the man. I am going to install the Z2 along with the BT1 and TV tuner (Power Akoustik model TUNER 5R). I have some common questions like placement of GPS and BT modules, retaining the steering wheel controls, and also how to bypass? I do not want to publicly post my email, and I am not sure how to PM. Please let me know if you can help.
thanks
