Possible to replace 99 TL radio w/ 01+ 6 disc changer?

Does anyone know if it's a 1 for 1 replacement to replace the stock single disc 99 TL CD radio w/ a 01+ 6 disc CD Changer/radio?

I'm not sure what you mean by a 1 for 1 replacement, but I have a 2000 TL that had the single CD player and switched it out for a 03 6 disc indash changer. The connections where the same for both radios.

I forgot to add that I think the 6 disc indash changer was first installed in the 02 model year TL. 01 models should have come standard with a single CD player.

Yes..

Sorry I didn't clarify, I did mean a direct swap for the single CD player radio that's in the car. I have a 99' TL (first year second gen model w/ the 4 speed auto) and I find it extremely aggravating that it doesn't play CDR's for anything..

So I should be able to locate any 6 disc changer from any 02+ TL (or CL) and it should be a direct swap (of course having to remove the initial radio to begin with)?

It is a direct swap for 99-01TL to 02-03TL. Please make sure it is not a 02-03 CL 6 disc in dash changer. They look identical but 02-03 CL will NOT work in our TLs.

That's good I clarified, I was about to get an 01' + or something CL 6 disc head unit. Does this haveto do with the fact that the TL has an EQ and the sub extermal to the head unit? I guess the 01 CL HU are the same as the 02 & 03?

Yeah 01 CL HU is the same as the 02-03 (I ment to say 01-03 CL in my previous post sorry). So none of the CL HU will work in our 2nd Gen TL and the reason is exactlly what you stated. Just find a 02-03 TL HU and you'll be fine. Make sure it comes with the radio code also.
