Please Help!!!!

My mother spoke witht the infiniti dealer and got this 2000 3.2 w/61k on it down to 11,200 for this car is a good deal considering the tranny issue? will it even make it to 100k plus, this car is actually for my lil sister. I have been helping my mom buy a car.

she has got a loan from the bank the work order was sent from the dealer to the nissan finance company but and now she just has to sign and pick up the car this thur, but i'm still wondering can she still back out of this deal since the dealer has gone threw all this paperwork prob in the process of registering this car under her name, but she hasn't signed anything. Bc if this tranny issue is that serious i don't think a new 16yr old driver can handle an emergency siutation if it fails while she is driving either on ice or the highway and my mom wanted this to last her through college it currently has 61k and has been taken in for that recal band ade patch oil kit and the tranny warranty is up in 6/2007.

So is she stuck with this car or can she still back out??

help please??

I did not have any problems with my tranny so far, so come down, not all TL`s are having tranny issues!
If you can get out.... you`re gonna love it this car

i am just more concerned with my lil sister safety she is a new driver and ultimately this car needs to last up through college at 61k aren't the risk for tranny problems higher as the mileage goes up, it is unfortuante that this has to be an incidence for a honda/acura considering it reputation with other cars My college car was an integra and it still runs strong even at 170k but i don't think the TL wold even hit 100k plus she wants a low maintenance car she doesn't know anythong about cars. I guess i'm real concerned with relaibilty up to 100k and safety, anyone with me on this?

not too long - about a half year, so far so good
I had just a couple minor things to do since I got it: new battery, re-ch AC...
So I assume I can`t say much about it... but If my ride start being bad I will simple trade-in.

I wouldnt worry about it. A. the car is covered till 100K. B If its going to go it shows signs of failure. its not all or nothing. If your that paranoid about it call the dealer up and say no. talk to them and tell them your concerns and tyhat you dont want to go thru with it. That simple.

yea 100k or 7yrs from manufatured thereofore this model warraanty is up in 6/2007 not even a year and i don't think it is posible to hit 100k in 11 months, so u have a 2000?

i just got off the phone with my mom she's prob gonna call that dealer and cancel it, it sucks too bc i like acuras, what happened the honda/acura reliabiltiy u once saw on cars like the integra, civic, and 4banger accords??

we still have an acura in our fam though an 03 mdx

Also problems look worse in forums than they really are. There is nothing wrong with honda/acura reliability. the cars are still for the most part bullet proof. my motor when i pulled it out had 200k on it and it didnt burn a drop of oul in 15k change intervals and was faster in the 1/4 at 200k than 30k. i never put adime into it. there just happen to be a design problem in 1 part thats all. i know many people who never had problems and to this day still dont.

in at 101k with my acura and the tranny has not been changed once.

When tranny fails you most likely get symptoms first, its not like its just gona stop without any warning.

hmmm....you do know that the 03' MDX have tranny problems also right? My sister's 03' MDX underwent a tranny replacement not too long ago. I recently purchased a used TL and haven't had any transmission issues yet. If you're going w/ the purchase on the TL, just do the regularly scheduled maintenance and you should be fine. The TL is a great car and your sister will enjoy it.
