you can put like 4 or 5sets of skis thru your trunk and out that arm rester on the back seat
Surfboard wise, i've put 3 boards all ~ my 6.2, and 2 other 6.4-6.6 from the back seat (behind driver) across and resting infront of the front passenger seat.
or you can do what my buddies do, they put towels on the roof and tie the boards down with a stretchy band.
it'll be sad to see the rack shaving off your paint from the vibration with rock/dust deposits.

i got subs and theres no room through the armrest. i have a rack for my surfboard but its a temp one. the kind that goes through the doors. thing is it scratched the hell out of my audi's roof from the sand when your done for the day.
