Which PIAA fogs to buy...
Which model of PIAA HB4/9006 bulb BEST matches the color of the HID headlights: The Xtreme White series, the Star White series, or the Super White Platinum?
I have an '02 TL with the factory HID bulbs (I dont plan too upgrade headlights to 6000k, nor upgrade the fogs to an HID kit, so please dont offer 6000k bulbs as suggestions). I am replacing the factory fogs because they have burned out after 103k miles. I would like to get them to match the headlights better which is why I do not want to put the stock bulb in as a replacement.
I did a search and came up with a lot of posts, but could not find a concise answer to my question. The posts seems to vary too much from one response to another and people were throwing in other brands as alternates. Assume I am going with PIAA and please answer accordingly based on just one of the three PIAA product lines I named above.

says "hello to my TLX".
i'd say that the PIAA 19224s are a close enough match. i and some 2G CL guys use them. there may be another bulb preferred by 2G TLs.
oh, the bulbs mentioned above are from the Xtreme White series.

So I assume the Xtreme are closer to the white than the Star White, despite what PIAA put on its site?
Do you have any info about whether a 60watt 9005 bulb would get too hot for the foglight? I know its only a few watts more than a 9006, but the extra light would be nice although I'm not willing to ruin the fog assembly in the process given how much they cost to replace.

i know there were some models that were too hot and would eventually burn the roadlamp housing. i don't know about the ones you mentioned, but as far as the 19224, there were no such problems and a close match to the HIDs. i would search for threads on this if i were you. good luck and post pics with your decision.

Interesting thing is that both fog bulbs burned out within a few miles of each other right after I got to 100k miles. I checked the circuit and its definitely the bulbs, not the fuse, switch, relay or connectors. There are no electrical problems with the car so its unlikely that they were blown out by a voltage surge. Just a coincidence as far as I can tell. Must have been made right after one another at the factory! Friends in life, the bulbs can now spend enternity together in the landfill ...

I couldnt find that part number (19224). Seems the HB4/9006 PIAA bulb for our fogs has part number 19616. I even checked on piaa's website. Am I missing something here?????

...but thats a Type W2 bulb.... The fogs are HB4 (otherwise known as 9006).
Anyway, I ordered up some 19616's off ebay just before. I went to Autozone, Pepboys and AdvanceAuto and not one carried PIAA. They all only carried the Sylvania Stars. I couldnt believe it. Like some kind of territorial control thing that Sylvania's got going on around here. I was bummed....

Dude: I bought some PIAA Extreme 4000k from an ebay seller for about $60 shipped. It should be a pretty close match from all the threads I read here about it. I think if you go to the next PIAA offering (with Kelvin up near 5000) it will start to look too blue. Also, unless you go do the HID fogs conversion, the bluer halogen blubs actually put out less light.
