I just bought some bbq grill high heat paint that says it can stand up to 1200 F from home depot. My question is has any of you had their paint peel or chip off? any advise before i paint it? did you guys have to use primer? thanks

Nope, no primer is needed. My paint is still looking good.

I would suggest that you clean the pipes really well before you apply the paint.

1) Wait for pipes to cool....no sense starting a fire
2) Clean with mineral spirits, paint thinner, etc.
3) Mask off spots you don't want painted with newspaper.
4) Apply several light coats, allowing each one to dry
5) Admire your work
6) Take some pictures so we can admire it too.

Here, I chose Joey's blue y-pipe so it's easier for you to see

P.S. Ignore the newspapers used for masking.

Get behind your TL from....lets say from another car with the lights on. The TL/Accord has bare stainless steel y-pipe that stands out allot....visually. Especially from behind. Go have a look when you get a chance.

Most (99.99%) people paint it a matte or semigloss black.

Oh my goodness...... I would paint it black like the color I mentioned previously. One basically paints this black to help make them less noticable.

Don't be a malaka and paint them any other color, just paint them black. But thats just my opinion.
