Peeling Wheel Clearcoat
The clearcoat on my wheels is starting to peel pretty bad. Is there a way to keep it from spreading and should I have the wheels re-clearcoated? I have heard it's easier to just buy 4 new rims, but that's too expensive. What have you guys done to combat this problem? I know I can buy the A center caps cheap and replace those, but as for the rims themselves I don't know what to do.

I have 400 miles until I'm out of warranty, and I don't know if they'll cover the wheels. They covered exterior trim surprisingly. Since it's not bad, I'm just going to wait until I have the money later on and get new wheels I guess. I don't feel like hassling with the dealer this close to the end.

Have any of you guys taken your car to the dealer for this and gotten them replaced under warranty??? If so, let me know. I have about 49650 miles on the car and might run it by tomorrow just to ask the guy for the hell of it. Also, getting this close to the warranty end, I'm paranoid thinking I might need to buy the 7/100 extended. I know w/ the car being older it costs a little extra, but I heard one of you guys paid only $600 or 700 for that. Let me know if any of you bought the 7/100 warranty when your factory warranty was about to expire. I'm interested in prices becuase I want to go in there and see what they can do for me.

Man if I were you, I'd make an appointment w/ like 2-3 dealers in the area ASAP and try each one. It costs you nothing but gas money to at least try. Even if others on the board were unsuccessful, I'd try a few dealers anyway. You should also be compiling a list of every little nick-nack thing you can find and try to get it taken care of before that warranty runs out

Funny thing is...I know the guy over the whole service dept. This dealer is owned by a company here that owns about 8 franchises, Acura being one. The service director is wanting to hire me on as a service writer around January. I've been in touch w/ him over the past couple of weeks. I wonder if he could pull some strings. lol

No way in hell you'll get that price with that many miles. Expect to pay in the $1500 range. The longer you wait, the more the price goes up.
