Post Passport 8500

Hey gang-- to those with the Passport 8500, or any other radar detector for that matter...
How and where did you go about mounting it? Right now I have it mounted on my windshield with the suction cups. Whenever I hit small bumps in the road, the thing rattles and it's driving me crazy. Last thing I want is another rattle to worry about. Which is the best way to mount it?

I probably have mine mounted in the same exact place, but mine doesn't rattle at all. Make sure your pushing it in all the way when attaching it to the suction cups.

The 8500 is pretty heavy. Make sure you have the L-clamp bent to the smallest angle that you can use that will keep the detector level and allow you to push the detector all the way down on the clamp (not the first one or two notches). The new Escorts don't have the bumpers.

For the record, I had an 8500 for about two weeks before I sent it back because it wasn't much better than my old 4600 (had for many years) and it falsed more. I now have a V1 and have never looked back.

I purchased the 8500 a few days after getting my TL-S. Went with 8500 because of good experience with my 7500. V-1 has always fascinated me, but more expensive and depending which web site you believe, no better.
And my 8500 does not rattle.
