After I started reading this fourm I'm so paranoid about driving my 99TL. Its transmission this and transmission that. Tell me there are lots of people out there with 99TLs that don't have any transmission problems.

 

I guess the 99 TL is not as prone to tranny failure because it only has 4 gears. Acura did not include the 99 TL in the extended drivetrain warranty because I guess not enough 99 TL trannys died. Mine is still going strong at 40K(knock on fake acura wood)

Don't trip like some teenager just enjoy the car!

 

Yeah, my 99 is great with 70K on it.... no problems in the past, and I'll have none in the future! (again... knock on fake acura wood! )

Dude, I am dying here, my tranny did some funky shiet today on the way home...it felt like it totally MISSED 3rd gear in auto...I dunno WTF...my music was up too loud....turned it down and it did not do it again, but damn. This was not the tourqe converter, this was something else.

 

if it felt like you were rear ended (the best way to describe the way the car lurches when the tranny goes) then your tranny is GONE!!! You have about 3 days or 100 miles before it takes a total crap so you'd better call your local dealer and set up an appointment really fast. If they are a good dealer they will ask you if you are unconfortable driving it around in the mean time and if so they will let you drop it off and give you a loaner while they order you a new tranny. BTW, the new trannys are shipping faster now. It took only 9 business days to get my TL back.

 

100k miles on 99TL no problems..well it shifts kinda harsh..but no MAJOR problems
