Painting valve cover?

How do you paint the valve cover? you know the part where some people painted it blue to match their AEM intake. what type of paint do you use? I saw the pic that TypeSdragon had up where the paint was red. Looked pretty sweet! is this something that is hard to do?

Feedback would be appreciated...cool!

Give them a thorough cleaning, a coat of primer, then about 3-4 coats of any spray paint from your local automotive store.

Remember to get high temp engine paint. (resistant 1500degrees) Me and AlFAV6 bought them in a local Autozone store.

Someone told me that 500 degrees paint was ok because it got any more than 500 degrees the engine cover would melt anyways, after all its only plastic.

BTW, I did mine in a silver/platnium color this weekend. I will post pictures when I have them scanned.

To be on the safe side, I used the 1200 degree high heat paint.

Someone said that 1200 degrees paint does not bond unless it reaches a temperature of at least 600 degrees. I don't know if this this is true or not.

So when does 500 degrees paint bond?

BTW, does anybody know how hot our engine can get?

I just unbolted the 4 screws, washed it 2x with dish soap, dried it off with a towel (use lint free) and started painting!
I used dupli*color "Engine Enamel with Ceramic" 500 degrees, got it at kragens for 7.99

I want to post pictures but not sure how to, i just joined about 10min ago!
