painting shift plate

i've seen some pics of people chroming their shift plate, but has anyone painted their shiftplate black? i think it looks really funny because my interior is black with burlwood and then all of a sudden there is a sporty metallic shiftplate. so has anyone painted it? (i think its called a shiftplate =x)

hey, ive painted my shiftgate close to bodycolor. i have a Monterey Blue Pearl TL. it looks kinda odd because its the only blue thing in there, but i like it. but painting the shiftgate itself is a piece of cake.

here's what it looks like, ill be takin more picz soon:

Hey, It will look good if you paint all of those wood-trims to match your body colour!... How does that sound!?

Twist the shift knob counter clock wise (twist really hard) and remove it. Then remove the black trim piece around the shift plate. Then you should see two holes on each side on the shift gate itself. Just slide a proper size screw driver in to pop one side open and it should come out. That's it. Use your brain, and take your time.

hahaha actually, it was turned 180 degrees, and before i got my burlwood shiftknob, i liked it rotated like that. i found it was easier to pull back on teh knob when i wanted to downshift, i found it more comfortable. but the wood one feels much better in the normal position, lol.
