painting front grill chrome trim

is it possible to paint the chrome on the front grill without the paint chipping? the body shop guy told me it would chip regardless if you sand it down or not. i was told this by 2 different body shops.

you can do it, you will need to find a good etching primer for chrome/plastic. and sand the chrome really good

i think you need to find a better shop. most will take on the chore. the grill isnt metal chromed, its plastic. it will stick iff done right

i guess maybe they thought it was metal. i'll clear it up with them and then ask them to do it even if they wont give me warranty on it.
