Painting the engine cover with multi-colored paint?

I was in Kragen the other day buying some brake light bulbs cuz one of them went out..

and in the same Aisle, I noticed the spray paint.. and something that caught my eye was this kit that has the multi colored paint.. it's purple and blue metallic looking..
it comes with a primer, color of paint, and clearcoat..

I'm sure you have seen some cars with this on the body.. I think the Camero had this paint on the 98 or 99 model..
so what do you think if this was used on the engine cover only? Would it look funky or cool?

I've seen it on a Mustang as well. The paint changes color in direct sunlight. I think this color will look funky on an engine cover. Personaly, I would paint the engine cover either in red or blue depending on the color of the CAI.

In addition to not looking very good inside the engine bay, also consider the heat rating on this paint. I'm not sure the ChromaColor spray paint is heat resistant.

But hey, if you try it remember to take pix for all to see.

I was curious about this as well. But pretty sure the clearcoat would burn right off. but if it works I might do it.

Thumbs up

Strickly for the engine cover, you don't have to use hi-temp paint or anything.. alot of people have done this with regular body paint..

Just thought it might be different.. and since you paint your engine cover to show off at meets, it will be in the sunlight anywayz..

Just curious.. I wanted to do purple, but then I saw this and thought it might look better than just solid paint..

Don't know about the clearcoat tho..

one option to choose is plastic dye.

it works very well, but i have no idea of it's heat rating.

i've used it on most vinyl/plastic items and it works.

caveat emptor.
