Painted the black plastic under the shift knob
Painted the black plastic under the shift knob
When I was removing my CD/radio I was able to remove the **** knob cover and get access to the black plastic that move as you move the shift knob. Well you can remove this moving black plastic easily at this point. So I figured it would be cool to paint it in metalic charcoal. The result look very nice! Now it look like a metal in the background instead of that chezzy looking black plastic. I will post a pic soon.
Tell me if you like these pics

Thanks! Painting the plastic is easy but getting to it is tedious work. You have to remove the whole center console. I was not plan to remove the whole center console just to paint that pastic but when I was removing my cd/radio to do the red LED project I figured it would be cool to make that cheessy looking black plastic looks more like metal. So I painted with #225 medium charcoal. Plus I change the bulb in there to a brighter one. The orginal bulb was rated at 1.4W now the new one is rated at 3W. Now it twice as bright! I was going to put LEDs in there but it I figure it will take too much work.

You need just one. I used the bulb that was used behind the gauages. I have plenty of them laying around when I replace them with white LEDs. I can send you one for free if you need it. I think is you about $2 from the dealer.
Weekendzs,
To get to this cheecey little black plast stick you need remove the whole center console. To remove the center console here is what you should do:
1. Remove that wood trim on each side of the center console by pulling up by the end near toward the back seat.
2. Remove the cover from both side by pulling it toward the side and out toward the back. If there are any screw holding them just remove them.
3. Open the center console stoarge compartment and under that small carpet you will see two screws, remove them. And two more screw outside up the front with the same color, remove them two.
3. Pop the black trim around the shift stip with your finger.
4. Reach with your hand under the coin compartment and pull a small plastic out and there is another plastic pieces that has heat seat buttons attach to it. Just pull it out straight upward with your hand and disconnect the heat seat connectors.
5. You will see a centronic connector where you just had remove the plastic picese in step 4. There are two yellow screws on each side of the connector, remove them.
6. Look around for more screws are holding the plastic housing of the shift stick.
7. Remove your ****f knob and shift the stick in "N" and make your you have your emergency brake on!
8. Now you remove that plastic housing.
9. Now you can remove that silver metal housing by pushing that those hooks at the bottom of it. You can figure it out. I just shown you the hard parts. The rest is easy!

Thanks! It feels no resistance when the stick is moving. It feels like it has never a paint before. I don't see any sign of paint flaking or rubbing yet. Hopefully it won't so I don't have to through removing the center console all over again

Edit: I also merged together both of your threads regarding your center console.

I think it's #225 medium charcoal (metallic) from Autozone.
The reason I don't want to paint the silver because I want to have good contrast in the background
